Laudato Si’, 5 years on! Celebrations to commemorate the 5 th Anniversary of Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical, Laudato Si, took place throughout the week of 16 th-24 th May 2020. From webinars to liturgical celebrations to concerts, from serious questions about what has actually happened to our beautiful earth since 2015, to prayer and music, there really was something for everyone! Leading a global response were the events organised by the Global Catholic Climate Movement (GCCM) with events in Britain & Ireland organised by CAFOD and Trócaire. At the beginning of the week the Vatican announced a Laudato Si’ Anniversary Year to run from 24 th May 2020-24 th May 2021, hoping that the year and decade ahead will be ‘a time of grace, a true Kairos experience and ‘Jubilee’ time for the Earth, and for humanity, and for all God’s creatures’. A special programme for the year can be found on the website of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development http://www.humandevelopment.va/en/il-dicastero.html We include here a special prayer for this important 5 th anniversary. Podcasts from last week’s webinars which also invited us on a journey throughout the world to visit practical projects and initiatives are available from the GCCM and together with details of their website we also give a couple of other useful addresses in Britain & Ireland to help us all either begin our search or to go further: Global Catholic Climate Movement (GCCM) https://catholicclimatemovement.global/ https://www.catholicireland.net/tag/laudato-si/ and Twitter @LaudatoSi_IRE See you again maybe during this September’s Season of Creation https://seasonofcreation.org/
